I made a Mac VST3/AU plugin that helps find masking and buildup across multiple tracks

Hi everyone,

I’m an independent audio plugin developer, and I recently released MixBrain v2 for Mac.

MixBrain is a VST3/AU mix preparation assistant designed for a common home recording problem:

Individual tracks may sound fine on their own, but the full mix becomes crowded, muddy, harsh, or difficult to balance.

The plugin uses a Master + Node workflow.

• MixBrain Master goes on the mix bus
• MixBrain Node goes on individual tracks
• The system compares the full mix with track-level information
• It then suggests coordinated starting points for EQ, compression, saturation, transient shaping, and space-related adjustments

The main idea is not “one-click magic” or replacing the mixer.

It is more like a second set of ears that helps point out where the mix may need cleanup, especially masking, low-end buildup, dense midrange, harshness, or staging problems.

There is a Free edition available, so I’m mainly looking for real-session feedback at this stage.

• English mode is included
• I’m still refining the UI, wording, and suggestion behavior based on user feedback
