I was reading a book the other day on recording and came across a quote. I can't seem to remember what book or what
person said it.

"A good recording is like a portrait, but the painting is done with sound and the canvas is silence."

I don't know why this quote keeps popping into my head.

Yes I'm stupid.

I love this quote because it sums it all up. You have to have a
good studio to create your canvas. The main vocals are the person in the portrait panned center. Everything else around the person is panned left or right. Cool.

I'm easily amused.

heheheh

heheheheheheheheheh. Welcome to my world.

"a recording is like a birdie, its very pretty if its pretty".

Yeah I like that one (painting etc.)

Know another one, hasn't got anything to do with recording, but whatever:

"...and the sun rose slowly, as if it wasn't sure it was worth the effort.."

My new fave quote is from Stephen St. Croix last column in MIX

"...You can stay home and watch "I Love Lucy" or you can go out and kick ass... I chose to kick ass!"

I'm not sure who said it (although quincy jones's name comes to mind) but somewhere I read something like "Making an album is like painting a school bus with a toothbrush."

I like that one. How true it is.

"I always wanted to be a dancer... but I couldnt get the shit off of my shoes."
-Rollins

"Better to live one day as a lion, versus a lifetime as a lamb" (Page used to refer to it).

Sums up my philosophy. Funny since I'm the biggest lamb there ever was....
