I only listened to the Christian Death Metal song and the first thing I notice is the guitars are way too thin. I'm guessing it's a cheap guitar into a cheap pedal into a cheap amp. That or the first two plus DI. The kick drum could also be a little more clicky and a little less punchy. Vocals sound like they have a lot of reverb which, in my opinion, isn't right for the genre. I'm also noticing that a lot of death metal bands sound very close to exactly the same, that band sounds just like about 10 others I've recorded. All in all though, if you just fix a few things you'll have a decent recording going on.

ok i took your advice and i gave more bass and body to the guitars i messed a little with the drumset and i took off some reverb on the vocals (i really dont want them to sound flat...it would sound horrible...) and i guess it does sound a little better..

by the way i didnt use a cheap amp or anything

i used an ibanez stack with a boss metal zone pedal one guitar is a jackson the other one is an ephiphone les poul..

im pretty sure it was the micing..this is the first time i mic up a distortion amp and all i used were 2 57's ...i eq'ed one high and the other one low
they were about 2inches away from the amp

any suggestions on how to mic them up?

One 57 a couple inches off the center of the speaker and turned in slightly(45 degree angle toward the center). Make sure to mash that beotch right up into the grill. If someone can help you, you should record someone playing while you sweep the mic around until you find the spot on the speaker you want. Also don't use two different tracks for eq'ing, you can do that all on one track but you do want to double, triple, or even quadruple track your guitar parts. If you aren't good with multiple mic'ing(getting everything in proper phase) then you really shouldn't even bother with it. You should be perfectly capable of getting a great guitar sound with one mic. Also try and mixing a track or two of the metalzone with the Ibanez's distortion and use less gain than you would live.

You've said enough! :p

I know it's cute to think like that but you can get a decent sound out of a metal zone. I've actually gotten a few gearstlutz back into the "zone". The problem with them is most people don't take the time to actually make it sound good. Now all that being said I don't use them unless the talent wants to.

I never disputed that fact. But in THIS PARTICULAR instance, does it sound good??

Apparently not!

No, but there are plenty of other things contributing to the poor sound.
