Well.. Im back here again.
Im tired of wasting my money on gear I dont need.
I've gone through and read all the acoustic information I can find, and I'd like to say I have it licked, but I dont have a god damn clue what any of it says.. I just dont have the mental capacity to take that in.. some stuff I "absorb" and other stuff (like this) I "diffuse".
The room I am in is very oddly shaped there is no consistancy to it. One of the rooms 90 degree angles is made of a giant stone fireplace, the rest are laden with windows and doors and oddities galore. In one corner I have a giant iron safe (which is not moving), in the other, a giant iron pellet heater (which also... is not moving.. this thing is very loud and needs to be unplugged durring recording).. Since this is my bedroom, the room also houses a couch (which I am contimplating throwing away and replacing with a few wooden stools) a bed, an entertainment system with a tv and things that I never use (which I am also contimplating throwing away). My ceiling is haninging fiberglass thingies and is slanted like \
As far as my ears tell me the room is fine. My ears arent the best and I dont know any different. The only issues that I have with my room are.. The wiring (None of my equipment is grounded which I was just informed of) .. this explains why my gear is shocking the shit out of me. And the noise from my computer.
This weekend I took the computer apart and cleaned off all the fans and such and I have blankets stuffed all around the computer with a little vent facing away from my microphones.
Theres still noise but its almost un-noticable under the music.
I dont know what Im asking for in this thread.. I'm confused and I'm looking for help to make my recordings better, but I dont know who to ask, what to do, or why.
My co-worker notified me of a store not to far away that deals in all sorts of weird foam.. Obviously Ive never HEARD the difference between a treated room and a non treated room so I dont know if I need to treat the room or not..
Blah Blah.
Answer me if you have some pearls of wisdom.. otherwise.. just forget about this thread, Im babbling.
