Guys, I actually did it!!!!!! HGTV has pulled the episode!!!!

I just received this e-mail from them.

Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate you calling our attention to this matter. We have forwarded this on to our program director who has decided to pull the episode. Thanks again.

I can't believe it! I want to thank everyone who supported me both here and oh John Sayers' forums. And thanks to Rod who wrote them a letter along with me e-mailing them.
I'm impressed!

Now can you do something about Dr. Phil? :D

I wish my wife would get over Dr. Phil. I think he is killing my relationship with my wife. Everything was fine until his show started pointing out all the shit that I do. I refuse to "get real" I like being fake. :D

That's pretty cool. Who would have thought that you could do that.

....and they would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those pesky Home Recordists!

:D

Nice one. :P

Hey, there's a guy with a studio called "Myster Machine Studio" with a thread over at John's site. haha.

lol, I saw a PC case a guy modded to look like the Mystery Machine. Paint job and all. Glued wheels to the case, the works. It had 4 5.25 bays, only one of which had a drive in it, the rest he took the covers off of, put in a piece of plexiglass or something for a windshield and put in toy dolls of the Scooby Doo cast. Was hilarious, said it was for his kids, I bet the LOVED it. Was in a Maximum PC issue around a year ago.

I don't have the link on me, but I saw this case mod of Doom 3. I didn't neccessarily like the game too much, but this case was impressive! He was making it for a client. He obviously had some serious skills with building models. It wouldn't surprise me if he was a set designer at one point in his life.

I saw that HGTV show. :o
You're right. Its obvious that they didn't do one iota of research.

Well, most people probably yelled at the TV or thought "these guys are idiots", but I just couldn't let them keep airing that episode so I did something about it. :) It's pulled now.

They even went so far as to pull it off the website too. If you go here, you'll notice that "WAR-306" is mysteriously missing.

Good for you Sonic I fired off an email myself, to "MYTHBUSTERS" after watching an episode where one of the hosts was in their shop, drilling 1" holes in some LEAD BALLS. The guy is drilling these holes with a HUGE bit in a drill press while holding the lead balls by hand.  All of a sudden, it grabbed(because of the size of bit)the material he was drilling and he yanked his hand out of the way just in time. I can't believe they were showing this on a tv show of this stature. He was begging to get hurt. THEN, he does it again to a Bowling ball...man, I've seen them do some unsafe things on every episode. It was time to tell em they're demonstrating really UNSAFE shop practices after this one though. BTW, I just about tore the meat from a whole finger one time. Drilling a 1/2" in sheetmetal while holding the sheetmetal in one hand, and the drill in the other...BIG MISTAKE, the bit grabbed the metal and wrapped it around my finger and pulled it into the bit and about tore my finger off before I could get the drill stopped...fuck. What a moron. NEVER drill into sheetmetal without clamping it.

Good for you Rick. I love that show, but every station has a responsibility to display safe material on their shows.

Yea, me too Sonic. I know for a fact that subconciesly, some people see that and assume the first time they use a drill press, that its safe to do that with out even thinking. I know. I've learned the hard  way. I've seen TERRIBLE accidents in shops. I worked as a journeyman Millworker and CAD detailer in an architectural mill for 20 yrs. Accidents happen to even seasoned fabricators. But sometimes, just a slip of the memory, or lack of paying attention can kill you or maim you for life. I personally saw a journeyman sawing a piece of 1"x 1" pine stick on a tablesaw, and for some reason, he lost control of it and the blade kicked it backwards about 200 mph. The person on the saw didn't get hurt, but another employee was working behind him. The board embedded itself 4" into his belly... Afterthat, the shop was rearranged just for that reason. Took a week.
