I am getting ready to buy another car now. When gas prices were $4 plus, I was really thinking about buying a hybrid. Now with gas prices back down to $2 or less, should I.

I understand the environment situation, however with the cost of a hybrid being $5k plus more, I will never make the money back over the life of the 4-5 years I am going to keep the car.

So any feedback of your experience owning a hybrid, or why I should or shoulnt would be appreciated.

if the cost is a major issue, perhaps you'd be best served living out the investment that you have in your current car.

on the other hand,,,you say you may never make the cost back on savings in your life time,,but think of the benefits that you will bestow upon others in lifetimes to come by saving energy and polluting less,,,

also,,,,what the f?*k???

I'd tell you to post this in another forum but I dont think there is an appropriate direction to send you in.

I'd get a hybrid after my car dies if I could afford it. I am expecting(or at least hoping) major advances in automobile energy consumption to take place in the next coming years. Maybe time travel is abroad us too.

I've got a buddy with a Saturn hybrid.... he was SO proud when he first got it.

....but now he's had to have the battery pack replaced THREE TIMES.
Under warranty, it's free but when the warranty expires its a $1500-$2000 hit each time.

(He's getting rid of it before the warranty goes out...)
