Is it better to have a humbucker or single coil for a bridge pickup, im looking for that David Gilmour sound like in Another Brick in The Wall and Young Lust. You know that sound that blends the solo together and what is a good suggestion for them thx bye :o :o :o :o

Do a split dual tap with a switch and have both.

Gilmour's main stage guitar is a USA 57 Vintage Reissue Strat fitted with EMG-SA pickups. He has also installed the EMG-EXG expander & SPC midrange presence controls.

Plus you might need a few of these little items also.

Let me know if you get it to work! :D :D :D

I will second that on the EMG's in his axe versital setup.

His older strat was like a off brand body with a Fender strat neck and pickups for a while.

I just put a Duncan humbucker in my strat last week. Awesome mod IMO. As Mixsit said, if you want to keep your options open, you can wire it so that you can split it can run it as a humbucher or single coil. EMG's are cool too, but going to active pickups is a more involved mod.

I just thought of it!
The body on his old strat was a CHandler.

Just a useless point! HAHA!

The solo on Another brick in the wall was a les paul, wasn't it?

Any guess as to what D. Gilmour's rig costs??
I think this is one of those, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" moments.

I can definitley tell you that I probably could NOT afford it, but if one could "wish" that would be pretty cool rig to use eh'.

I can't even afford a descent amp never mind all that stuff. It would be cool to have though. I wonder if he would lend it to me for a bit of recording? ;)

I know david had a pretty nuto rig worth plenty I'm sure.
he had bass pre amps in the chain.
I remmeber him saying the best place to start is a good clean tone and everything else was easy...... SURE!

I know for a fact that Gilmour uses a Strat for Another brick in the wall ive seen him in concert and i need too know what pickups i should use.

Pickups and setups come and go for most guitarists.

You have to have a good ear....from there it's all in the hands.

Amen. Copping Gilmour's sound is more in pick attack and vibrato than anything.

That being said, generally speaking, I get more use out of a humbucker in the bridge position than a SC for most applications.
