As just stated above, I use my ears, as I'm sure you do, Mr Transit. Use your EYES as well and reread my previous posts.

Here's a flowchart if it helps, something a bit more visual:

Turn up trim - indicator comes on (approaching clipping, but still CLEAN) - increase trim (until clipping/overload occurs AUDIBLY) - adjust to taste.

Do you use an oscilloscope to determine if I like the sound of something or not? No. Neither does anyone else to my knowledge.

Let it go.

I just did.

Phew.

Now time for a beer...whos with me?

Disclaimer: Don't drink and do audio

Just making sure you just weren't talking shit. Lot's of people like to do that. ;)

Wow, and yet no one's said anything about this one:
http://www.audiomasterclass.com/index.cfm

"Study at home from anywhere in the world and achieve an accredited and recognized Sound Engineering qualification."

Except for the word "accredited," I think that's what I'm doing.

And who hear thinks they can learn ProTools HD without owning one?

Oh I never oppose anyone learning and getting "qualified" at home. :)

If I was a studio owner, I would *love* to leave my hard earned and fragile business in the hands of home trained world class engineers. ;)
