I've got this red box & I'm just about to plumb it inbetween a tube head & cab for a power-amp DI. Anyone ever used one enough to tell me about it

(Q) can you use a red box without a speaker load on the amp?? (obviously I'm not going to try that untill I know one way ort-other)

I also have a palmer junction box which going to play around with (& I know I need a speaker load on that one)

Just a random question that could affect the health of my vintage tube gear
Thanks

In 10 seconds by searching the "internet" i found your answer.

here is the link.
http://www.hughes-and-kettner.com/products.php?mode=prod&id=110#

click on the picture of the "redbox". It enlarges the picture so you can read right on the product in a big yellow warning box. it reads, and ill quote right off the actual top side of the product......."NEVER USE TUBE AMPS WITHOUT SPEAKER LOAD"

wow and if you look at the "web page" there is a link with all the technical specs on it too, as well as usefull info on how to use the product. Then if thats not enough, below that link there is a link for downloads with the actual owners manual, that way if you need information on the product that you purchased, or how to use it, it will tell you right in the "owners manual".

hope this help you. :) :) :)

just out of curiosity????

I am now aware that in retrospect it might have been a bit of a dumb thread BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't see why somebody had to bad rep me for it

& apparently you can run a valve amp with no speaker "as long as there is a dummy load attached to the amp"! (I think it's a resistor but I'm not sure & won't state to avoid more bad rep!!)

BTW there is no yellow triangle with any sort of warning on my RB. But that doesn't alter the fact that metalj is right & I am on a decreasing level of daftness

I'm all out for learning & sometimes you ask a question & get cut down.............fine.................it's the story of life. I learn as a result of my sometimes stupidity, but person X can keep their rep points

I am forever smiling
