skids, Try a different player...

Does it in Winamp.

:D

skids I don't know how it happened for sure, but a lot of fucked up things happen in my wake for some reason. You aren't crazy though, it happened with me too. I was trying to figure out how it happened, and if it's actually controllable in some form or just a weird fluke. I created the MP3 in Cool Edit Pro 2.0 after processing in T-Racks...trying to recreate my steps...back...dunno.

MG Gits Firesign...heh. Daf had soem of the wacky shit blaring on down through the NY Throughway... Try some subgenius hour of slack on for size if you will. ;)

Stevie Wondercow Get back to me. I hear you I hear you I hear you. What's the surf guitar? Vocs need upped fer sher.

Where the hell is hevyD?

The adulterous train spins its wheels... finally it moves forward...

The cloud still rises from the bong

Crazy striped pants, afros...

Nuts, acorns of all sizes, shooting laser lights...

A jam with an insect zapper, Dick Dale, and friends...

A quick message, and then a lot of time to think about it... the psycho background providing a safe haven to stretch the mind...

Nice conspiracy, guys! :D

Got any Shrooms? :D

pretty wierd fellas....I can dig it....

There is definitely a lack of conventional structure to your music...

not a bad thing....just different...

Yeah...I can envision the Doors doing something like this...

The array of sound bites is large and in your face....perhaps switching the levels of the vox with the effects might be cool....I dunno...I am a moron at this stuff...ya know?

Cool colab,
Joe

Bump....I gotta go get dinner, but it's already downloaded...be back soon. Should I drop some acid before dinner or what?

Your Monsters!!!!! :D

Headline might read:
Waves of naked people with grotesquely painted faces, chanting and rambling aimlessly in the nighttime streets bring the whole of several major cities to a standstill as fear grips those locked inside the homes and buildings!!!
Officials have no clear explanation for this phenomena.

I loved it, lots a work to get that where it is. Hat`s off here.

Sick.

Love it guys. The vocal kinda felt like Morphine (the band) to me, without the sax. Very cool jam...had a great live feel to it too. I think I would have liked to hear a mix with about 20% less reverb just to compare, but this was pretty damn cool.

You know, when you guys started posting your dialogue back in the beginning I started thinking to myself...What have I done? I'm very glad I posted that challenge though. Some FANTASTIC original music has come from it, and I have no regrets. I appreciate that you two stuck together and followed through. That was 50% of the challenge.

Thank you, fellas!

Tom

Thanks all. I wonder where hevyD is?

pants, man...you're down!!!:D Sounds like you did pick up on the centipede sample! ha! Ever sit down with Galactic and a head full of fuzz?;) Love you man.

joro - no musies no, but then, who needs 'em? :p Yeah I think a genius engineer would probably have a better go at the mix than me. Conventional demensianal.:p Thanks dudes. Doors, eh? Yeah they knew how to trip out.

Toki. Right on. Question - if you were in your home, and there were waves of naked people with painted faces roaming the streets aimlessly, would you lock yourself inside, the house, or strip down and hit the revlon? Thought so. I'd be right behind you. :) Sounds like mardis gras to me! Lt. Bob would show us the way!

DougH- :) thanks for listening man!

Sluice - Thanks man. Yeah I hadn't noticed the Morphine thing, but yeah, now that you mention it... but less reverb? Heresy!:D
I have to regrets whatsoever about getting into this challenge. I probably never would have had a chance to meet hevy and had this experience. We all get in our comfort zones and, kind of like the way society is becoming, we aren't forced to interact much with the rest. Something like this can remind what it's like to deal with people, our peers, and how to relate. For those who've participated, I'm sure everyones learned a thing or two about themselves. Good challenge.:) :)

Now where the hell is hevyd?

fun collab...

since everyone else has been so nice, I'll keep it real..

I was happy when the song was over..

I love the doors, and I guess I can see why people say that, but it's really reaching and being very generous.. the little bit of vocals were sorta cool..

there wasn't much I liked about it, except that it was a collab.. the sound wasn't too good, and the way you used the samples was wasteful..

Had a GOOD listen this morning---

started off rocky - beat didn't fit guitar pattern...

...more stuff added, all of a sudden it's clicking...

...who ever said mixing the vocs low was a good idea was probably right, though I think I'd like to hear more vocs...

...okay, maybe a bit of a Doors vibe, Morphine's closer, but still not close - they were all about the space...

...uh-oh, there's a hard clip --- and another one...

...but still really enjoying this, unlike Sammy...

...wife rolls her eyes, says "what the heck is this?"...

...more more more - kitchen sink samples are making me laugh - in a good way...

...damn, had to leave room for a sec...

...back in time for the end - cool fade...

...ooh, had the same problem as skids, but I did on another tune, too. What's your bit depth on this? Sample rate? Are you using VBR? There's something these players aren't liking about a lot of these homegrown tracks - I'm guessing if we want everyone to hear these without glitches, we better do 16/44.1 and avoid VBR encoding.

About the tune - really enjoyed the whole thing after the intro, which I found a bit clunky (though that could work as a tension & release device). It was thick, but not cluttered. Really liked the surf guitar. And the samples (shades of the subgenius).

Still not sure about the vocal level - I think I'd like to hear it higher, just to see if it's better that way.

Excellent job, ratso & hevy!!! Into my keepers it goes!!!!

Daf

Trippy tune guys... ummm... It does have that Doors meets early Pink Floyd vibe going on.... The recording is pretty clean, and lots of cool stuff goin on...

I was gonna say it has everything but the kitchin sink, but then I thought I heard water going down the drain... hehe...

Good job guys.....:)

Reformatting Yesterday

Whoa............picked the wrong day to erase the C drive I guess.
I figured rats would be busy a while longer:eek:
I was very LUCKY to be together with someone so different musically than myself.
I don't feel that I contributed much for what the final result was but then again, thats what collaboration is really all about. Letting some control go to another person.

Thanks for havin me Rats:D

And thanks again to Sluice for putting it all together

Dan Guenette

Hevy man there you are! I was starting to wonder if you maybe ran off to hide from this monster.:( Good to read your voice again.

I do feel a bit bad about kind of taking over on this a bit, it just kind of worked out that way based on the concession of events. I'm a bad collaborator in that sense. There's actually several things about this project that could have been done differently, better. After listening to it for a few days there's a lot of things I would like to have done differently, and the god honest truth is that it was a bit of a rush job on my part.:( I'm hearing sloppy playing, and a second rate mix job (even by my standards:eek:!). As previously stated, I've been excruciatingly busy with my kids, work, upcoming gigs including trying to get a psychedelic light show together, and trying to coordinate completing my band's studio/home studio full length. I didn't want to let you down by letting this fall by the wayside, but instead I feel I let you down by comandeering the thing and then not putting out the best possible final product.

So here's my proposal, this may fix everything. What say I send you the session data, all tracks, and you can add, delete, change, whatever, then do your own mix/master? This way we'd have two different versions totally! Actually, I think it would be pretty fun, and I wouldn't mind having a little more time to fix a few parts on this version (keyboard flub, slide guitar, drum edit in beginning of song, etc.)

So what say?

Yo thanks voxxy.:)

daf- you made some good points there. Thanks man. Hey do you think you can make it out to hang out on the 29th? Talk to you more later.

kelly - thanks for the props. I hear the sample you all are referring to that sounds like a kitchen sing or doing dishes, but it's something totally else. Nice of you to listen so intently!

Oh yeah - dunno about anyone else, but when I said "kitchen sink", I meant "everything including the kitchen sink", that old cliche for, man, you threw a little bit of EVERYTHING into this...

Oh THAT sink! :p
