I wouldn't do any eqing to a soloed track.... Keep the track in the mix, boost the hell out of the EQ, then sweep the EQ until the mud is at it's worst. Cut the EQ there (while listening to the whole mix). Do that for several tracks.
Also, it is usually a good idea to choose a guitar tone while playing along with the mix. Sometimes a baddass guitar tone will sound all wrong soloed, and a big fat ballsy soled guitar tone almost allways sounds like unlistenable fuzz in a mix.
I guess I'm trying to say make all of your sonic choices while listening to everything.
