What are you using now?

Personally, I'd save my money until I could get something better.
 
any opinions?

basically i wanna kno if the presonus would be a big step up from behringer, like how the dmp3 would be
 
The thing I always hear is, "Spend the money on good mics and good mic pre's."

If all you have is $300 to get at least 2 channels of preamp, you may need to decide what you want more. Avg. sound quality now or Above Avg. sound quality in a few months.

I hate the thought of spending over $500 for one channel preamp but, if that one channel is your ticket to better sounding audio, it's worth every penny. The people who hear your music will not know you paid mega $$$ for a grace 101 or whatever but they will hear the quality of your music whether good or bad and make their opinion of you as a musician/engineer based on that and not what you could do if... See what I'm saying.

FYI... I too own a Behringer MX2004A. I'd say it's a good enough preamp to hold you till you can afford the mother-load. It'll also help you realize the quality upgrade between it and it's high-end counterparts! :)
