Hey all! I've got a Yamaha MG12/4 mixer hooked up with a TRS cable to my soundblaster AUDIGY (the original one, not Audigy2) line-in. The cable is plugged to the group out jack from the mixer, and I set the 2 channels I wanted into the specified group.
Ok, here's my problem. I'm trying to record my voice and guitar as separate tracks in Kristal so I can have some ability to condition each track separately. As an experiment, I panned voice to the Left and Guitar to the right using the panning controls on the mixer for each respective channel. Then, I selected "ASIO input L" for the first track in Kristal, and "ASIO input R". However, All I got was sound from the left channel, and nothing from the right channel. Then I noticed I there was a "to STR" button on the mixer, so I tried pushing that and making the 2 channels stereo to see if that would break the signal into 2 separate outputs.
After fiddling with these things, I could not separate the channels, so I had to use the mixer as a (what do you know!) mixer. Is there a way to separate the channels for recording on my soundcard? Any and all help is appreciated.
PS - If I can't get this to work, would I be able to split my channels up through a different soundcard (eg M-AUDIO audiophile)? I might consider buying a new card in the future, but I first want to know if my mixer has the capability to do what I want.
Thanks for all the help!
