How to prevent phase cancellation when recording two solo?

Hi, it has been a long time since my last post due to the fact that I got a busy job after university.

I suddenly want to do a multi-track recording after hearing people playing harmonica duet on the street.
So I record my playing one after one so that two tracks play the same notes at the very beginning but start to differentiate after a while.
I found the beginning sounds a little bit weird, quite different from what I expect. Is it what we call phase cancellation? If it is, how can I prevent it?
Why don't we have this problem when listening on street but it occur in studio recording?

A track that sounds like phase cancellation

Hi,
You're basically double tracking, right? Recording the same thing twice?

This usually will sound odd if the two tracks are occupying the same space. ie. panned centre.
Try panning them left and right by varying amounts to see what happens.

:)

Yes, double tracking.

Oh, it really sounds better after panning one left and right.
I was always wondering what can I do with the pans.

Thanks! Lesson learnt:thumbs up:.
