FALKEN

*************************
Hi,

I am building a 72 telecaster deluxe (dual humbuckers). I got the body with all of the electronics except for pickups, and a mighty mite neck. I am going to use '57 classic pickups I already have. Here is the problem I ran into:

when I pulled the classics out of my les paul, the pickup cavity was 2-3 times deeper than the tele's cavity. The classics look like this:

They are held to the rings via two feet that stick out downwards and have screw-holes. They make the pickup about 1/3 "taller". and It doesn't look like it is goiing to go all of the way into the telecaster. I am thinking that I need to clip those off, and soldier them back in place at a shorter height, and get some shorter screws.

Another solution would be to bend them up and drill new holes.

Also, the 72 pickguard is made for fender brand humbuckers, which are larger. There are no rings, the pickup mounts to the pickguard. It looks like I would need to get another piece of plastic and make my own "ring"; only flat.

I was just wondering if my own solutions are they way to go, or if anyone has solved this problem differently. Thanks!

I can't answer your question, but check out the users forum at Telemodders.com. Someone there should be able to help you.
