How to modify a console

The original QE was probably superior in many ways to the updated QE II.

Hard to improve on the original.

Setting the EQ's Center Frequencys different?

I'm actually shopping an idea to Behringer for a 43 band graphic eq where all the bands center freqs are the same. Don't tell anybody, though, the lawyers are still working on the patent.

evm1024[/b] - you do know that skippy here (aka, "walters"), is just the clueless fuckwit alter-ego of an actual audio engineer posting for shits 'n giggles, don't you?

Of course I knew a bit about Walters, but who is the engineer behind the KISS mask, I now ask myself...... ;)

Who was it here who had the Yahoo e-addy 'iblewwalterscauseineededthemoney@yahoo.com', or something like that?
Priceless. :D :D :D

So what should i do to my console?

Walters, I know you must of been suffering from lower back pain. Here's an advice for you from Doctor:

Open up the console, pull out all the faders, do it one by one (not all at once!) turn them all 180 degree and re-install.
Then shop around and get Multi-Purpose Bar or a similar product. Install the bar on the ceiling in the location above the spot where your 'mixing chair' normally stands infront of the console. Through away your chair. Strip down to your underwear, keep socks on.
Hang on the bar as shown on the photo - relieve your pain and start mixing again.

P.S.
If I was walters, I would hang myself in the traditional style: by the neck feet down, and by having done that - set the rest of the world free of pollution.

:D :p :D

Won't that just reverse the phase.   :D

My gramma had a console that was a 25" COLOR TV, AM-FM stereo, phonograph, and 8-Track. That thing rocked.

Does your console have a TV?

YES! There is a chance, but it will depend on walters' condition. If his illness already has entered the last phase .... then it's irreversible.

:D

Failing that you could purchase this product:

I mean look at these features!

"transforms transistor sound into tube sound
transforms cold and harsh sound into warm emotional sound
attenuates odd, especially third overtones "

:p

im'a get a couple of buckets of that stuff and smear it on all my gear. :D

somone has way too much time on his hands.

HAH HAH HAH LOL

Yeah man. Let the party started. ...

here's my favorite part of it:
....Experience has shown, that power transistors in certain circuit topologies CAN over-react to Altmann “Tube-o-lator" lacquer. Over-reaction will lead to a dumb sound (that will make you feel sick),....

well, I have no experience with lacquer , but I do have personal experience with liquor and can confirm: over-reaction, sounding dumb and feeling sick - all this and more are pretty common "effects" :D :D :D

Down in joe’s garage
We didn’t have no dope or lsd
But a coupla quartsa beer
Would fix it so the intonation
Would not offend yer ear
And the same old chords goin’ over ’n’ over
Became a symphony
We would play it again ’n’ again ’n’ again
’cause it sounded good to me
One more time!

So none of you regular pro audio masters know nothing at all about how to modify a console?

Sure. You insert your penis in the power supply, and switch it on. Trust me, you are gonna LOVE the sound of your console after that!

........."So none of you regular pro audio masters know nothing at all about how to modify a console?..."

Apparently not. Maybe try Gearlslutz...oops, you were kicked off there. Try Eq...oops, you were kicked off there. Try Audioforums...oops you were kicked off there. Try Fletcher...oops, they won't even let you REGISTER there. Try Lynn Fuston...oops, they kicked you off there. Maybe Radioshack has a forum you can still get onto. Or maybe Heathkit is still around and has a forum. I'll see what I can find for you.

I do, though I'm not a pro audio master.
Here we go...take off one of your faders, paint it a different color with nailpolish (I prefer Strawberry Dream #36 myself) and pop it back on. There, you made a modification to your board. As Ghost recommended earlier, make sure to use a sledge hammer when re-installing....or is that when you remove it   Oh well, I forget. Try both and see which one works best.

Actually some of know quite a bit and all of know not to take you seriously.

If you really want serious help, try getting a different user name to be here on the board and write very clearly what help you are looking for. This means asking about specific mods to a specific mixer and explain why you want to do this in the first place.

Asking inane opened ended questions will only get you more stupid answers and present people with a means of making fun of you even more then they are doing now. Unless, that's all you're really after is just a laugh?

Either way, take care and have fun.

Cheers! :)

Just tell me the modications if you know them
Regular Pros DO NOT just do something for you. They charge you for that.
