How to hook up Alesis HD24 to Mackie SR56 Console

I am using a Mackie SR56 analog console and recording to an Alesis HD24.
Can someone familiar with these units let me know how to hook it up?

Probably several ways to do it, but what I might do is go from the SR56 Direct Outs 1-24 to the inputs of the HD24, and from the outputs of the HD24 to SR56 Line Ins 25-48. The last 8 inputs of the SR56 can be effects returns or whatever.

Another option would be to use the SR56 Sub or Matrix outputs. That would allow recording submixes of inputs.

I'd do it exactly as boulder sound guy suggests--or possibly put the returns from the HD24 into 33-56 so the effects returns are closer to your sources (if you plan to use any effects of course).

Either way, should be a very effective set up.
