How to get this sound

Ok guys ..

I kinda fell in love with a particular distortion sound ...
and presume its got to be the emg humbuckers doing their thing
its the EMG 85 Dirty Bridge sound @ this http://www.emgpickups.com/index1.html site

they sound crunchy , with lots of attack and a nice sustain ..

my question : what kind of effect pedals, or racks might be able to get me a bit closer to that kinda overdrive ....
before I go out and replace my pickups
I think it would be wiser to try the rack / stomp box route to get a little closer to what Í'm looking for

The Tech 21 Double Drive is the best one I've found for that kind of sound. Mild to heavy distortion, great sustain, and responds well to picking dynamics. It works better in front of a clean amp sound than it does in front of an already overdriven sound. A great pedal.
