I do a little home recording, very lo-fi stuff but was wanting to kick it up a notch but still keep things pretty affordable. I was wondering if getting an mbox would be good or if theres something that would work better? Plus any tricks to make cheap stuff sound good. I have a couple radio shack mics right now and borrow different equiptment from time to time. Whats some good cheap mics? I'm gunna be micing a jazz kit and we used a monitor one time as a kick mic when we recorded at a studio and it sounded real good. Anyone have any other tricks like that that sound good in the end?

Oh, plus I have a Kustom 200 bass head from the 70s, I love the tone it gives my bass and I've heard of people using these as PA heads because they have four inputs with two seperate volume and tone controls. Any good way to use this kind of instead of an MBox? I also have a Line6 pod floor processor that I believe can act like a sound card. If I run drum mics through the bass head and then through the processor would it sound alright???

Thanks for the link. Looks like a lot of good info.
