how to change to 24bit in Cubase

I've used Cubase sx 1.0 and I remember it being easy to switch to 24 bit or even 32 bit. For some reason I can't figure out how to do this with Cubase sx 2.0.. I've tried creating a new project, choosing the emty tracks.. it's alway set to 16bit.. what up wit dat?

please help!!
 
Mine's always set to 32-bit float for some odd reason. I usually just go into the project settings.. either under the file or edit tabs (I don't have the program in front of me)... and you can change it there. Just make sure to do it before you record anything or it'll have to convert everything.
 
o.k, i figured out how to change the bit rate. what should the record file type be set up, broadcast wav or just wav?
 
Use broadcast wav. It has the timecode encoded in it, so you can use the send ot origin feature.

BTW it is bit depth. Bit rate is for mp3's
 
o.k that's what I was using. I though maybe cuz i was export my audio to just the regular wav setting and not broadcast wav, maybe that's why i was getting the crackling sound..
 
ok, weird.. I just figured out, it's not my mixdown audio wav files that are crap, it's my cheap ass ISA sound card that i'm using.. son of a.. Once i selected my firepod as the default winxp sound card, played back my wav's in winamp, they were clean as a whistle.. but it's weird cuz my mp3's don't sound shity through that crappy sound card. oh well, i think i'm just gonna start using the firepod as my main sound card from now on.. There shouldn't be any harm to the firepod right?
