And to think I almost bought from this clown a while back. I'm happy Beck and the gang set me back on the right path. Good luck with this nightmare.

I should have listened to you guys!

This is what I get: Mr. tapeandtape claims the box arrived empty.

What an end to a helluva day! Goodnight everyone!
MD

Words do not describe it.

Hope you insured the tape shipment. Next he will try to get a full refund and settle for partial refund.

Send a complaint off to eBay talking about fraud. Be proactive on this. They must have records on his dealings.

Regards, Ethan

PS Postal fraud! report it to the post office too!

Box weighed 18 lbs., 3 oz. with tape. He's saying it opened up during shipping, that I didn't put any tape on the box. Of course, this is a wild claim.

You didn't put any tape on the box????? No good. I have sent things through the mail, U.P.S, and Fed Ex and if I was short on tape they have all taped my boxes for me. I hope this works out in your favor. You should have went with your gut in the first place.

keep reporting him and i would even file a police report for fraud if possible...........DO NOT give up on this....................
ex wife had a similar situation with a video game machine.............
turns out the guy did it with other people as well.............
once we filed claims tons of other people came out of the woodwork
and the guy was banned and prosecuted!

Thanks for the support guys.

And Dodge, of course I used tape! The sticky, packing kind, not the magnetic, recording kind!

I know that, you know that, but is tapetape dumb enough to think he is the only one that knows it?

That is one freaky situation. Reminds me when Bill (Mr. tapeandtape) contacted me for some tape that I've had for sale locally. As soon as he showed genuine interest, he was gone "poof..". Never heard from him again. I probably would have sold to him but I'm glad a higher power intervened and the deal was dead. That was a few years back but I recall the rather strange email exchanges with him.

He hasn't sent any photos confirming this yet, nor has he filed any formal claims with eBay or Pay Pal. As it stands now he's banned from purchasing anything from me on eBay again. I would encourage others on this forum to do the same.

You should have put rocks in the box for real. Or a big Dog Turd...

I have several eBay members on my block list so they can't bid on my auctions... I have for years. tapeandtape is one of them.

You know, at first I gave Bill the benefit of the doubt because I've had my share of shipping nightmares, especially outside the US. The big PO in my town is a central hub and has been overwhelmed and understaffed for years. So now I drive about 5 miles to a small town PO and everything is going well so far. I've stopped shipping overseas, including Canada. I hated to do that but to be a little vulnerable here guys, the stress was getting to me. I used to ship to Europe, Japan, Israel, of course Canada and many other places... just can't do it anymore unless things get straightened out with the carriers.

That being said, Bill's excuses are at the "My gold fish died" and "My dog ate it" sort of level. There's no way any one guy can have that much bad luck over so many years. And I've softened quite a bit over the years when dealing with people like that. I even feel sorry for Bill on some level because he seems not quite right in the head, but no way will I ever do business with him, buying or selling. Especially now since eBay is run by crazy people, so the feedback system is one-sided.

I even check members once they bid to see if they’ve been fair with giving feedback. Even when the feedback system was balanced I always thought that said as much about a person as the feedback they received. If they’ve got a few mean, unreasonable complaints about sellers… BOOM… they’re gone! I cancel their bid and put them on my blocked list.

I hear what you're saying about small town Post Offices. I live in the smallest municipality in Massachusetts (in terms of land area) and the Post Master is generally the person who is on duty. She's a very sweet lady and makes sure that everything is packaged correctly - all the more reason why Bill's story has to be bull.

The thing is, if anybody else had made that complaint, I would have probably believed them and thought I had a real problem on my hands.

Bill has still not sent me any pictures to prove his claim, but he escalated the situation to Pay Pal and eBay today, so now those funds are frozen.

you will probably loose with ebay's/paypal's new rules..............
please file a police report and file any kind of report with the mail service if possible.........it's the only way to get them to stop. Ebay and paypal don't care about the scammers. The only way we could get our problem solved was to go to the card companies and the police. Even if he has mental problems etc, he needs to be stopped. Yes, i believe in going after someone trying to possibly scam ya.........

I think that he still has to prove / document the claim to PayPal, doesn't he? I went through something once where an item wasn't as advertised and I had to jump through hoops to prove that was the case. Maybe the rules have changed but they can't just take Bill's word for it. That would be insane.

How do you block him in your ebay account and what is his exact ebay name?

I'd like to block him. You never know.

I don't know the specific link to do it in eBay, but search for the string "block bidder" and you'll eventually (two clicks or so) will get to the correct spot. His actual eBay name is tapeandtape.

The only time I ever filed the buyer never responded, so I eventually won by default. I did have photos but they never asked me to post them. The item in question was refurbished suitcase turntable. The turntable had in no way been refurbished, but more importantly the seller just put the wooden turntable in a box in which it barely fit without any packing material. It cracked in shipment and he tried to blame the Postal Service. It cracked in such a way so that it could no longer be carried by the handle, so no more turntable "suitcase." The saddest part of that story is I bought it as a gift for someone who is of limited means, who spoke fondly of a similar turntable. Despite the damage, he was really happy to receive it, and I ended up paying only $30 for it, which I thought was appropriate considering the amount of damage. It was just a damn shame that this particular seller decided to nearly destroy a vintage piece of equipment.
