Linen-covered with 48 stars and 13 stripes

That's all. Later that night, I moved the panels seen to my right up closer to the ceiling and added another under the horizontal one. 6 panels left to place around, and we'll see how it sounds in there.

Sweet. So long drywall screws through the pegboard, through the 703, and into the wood strips?

Excellent question. The 2.5" screws that I had were not long enough, so it wound up being screws thru the wood strips, and framing nails thru the pegboard and into the wood.

I just poked three or four nails through the pegboard strips and 703 and they stuck in well enough to stay there as I held up the panel against the ceiling.

Thanks. I'm all about trying to hang them frameless. Cheaper in terms of materials, time, and safer if they decide to fall and knock me or someone else on the head.

I have a big swath of blue velvet from Joanne Fabric to make some curtains. There should be enough material to make them go from the edge to edge of the panels in the front. Blue to pick up the star field, and a red back wall to pick up the red.

I'll make sure not to mention the matching curtains in the Cave forum...

Nicely done. Creative idea covering with the flag.

Oh, and good call about not mentioning the curtains in the cave....

The flag is a fine linen, so it shouldn't be too reflective. Really is 48 stars, too. Each stripe is a different piece of fabric, but the stars aren't embroidered, just printed.

I just finished the curtains on my wife's extra vintage singer. I totally broke it like three times in the process, but it's all good.

I'll tell you though, if you're not married (I am, happily), Joann Fabrics is definitely the place to strike up a conversation with the ladies... a man who can sew and all that. You've scored points just by walking in the place!

by the way, the LPs on display from the left are a Stereo Review test LP, a Shure trackability record called "an audio obstacle course" and a Devo 12" of "Are You Experienced?"

Um...they're talking with you because you're "safe"...they feel comfortable. Of course they'll talk with you, even have a few drinks with you. Hell, they'll probably get naked and try on new outfits in front of you. They think you're gay.

I'd have to walk in, stand at attention and slute every time I walked in. I like it. But then again, I'm a patriot.

Aha. my secret weapon. They should see the curtains I just made.
