How do you achieve tempo changes?

I use ezdrummer, and Ive tried changing the tempos in the right measures, but it never seems to work.

Either the whole song changes tempo or everything after that point changes.

Surely time changes must be doable without the inprecise method of using a wave changer like audacity?

I don't know EZ Drummer, but considering you said this:

, I'm guessing that all you have to do is program another program change back to the original tempo after the part you want changed.

What DAW are you using?

I use reaper and it's just a matter of highlighting a section and changing the tempo for that section. I'm sure other DAWs have a similar way of making selections and changing parameters for the selection. EZdrummer know what's up.

Also, if you are playing the beat from the EZdrummer interface it might get screwed up...i don't know, i've never tried...but if you've dragged the beats on to the track (i.e. the midi tracks), it'll play at whatever speed the DAW is telling it to at that part of the song.

In Reaper, you can set a time marker, and set the tempo at that point, you can then also adjust whether you want a gradual change to that tempo from the previous time marker, or an immediate change.

Yup, in Cubase there's a Tempo map. Same thing.

The MIDI in your project/session will follow the master tempo change.

hmm I didn't know about the gradual time change. That's pretty cool.

Thanks All. I found a decent solution in cakewalk a tempo change button, what a crazy name for it! lol

The name is what it is, I hate recording, I love writing music and being done with recording, but the actual recording
is an annoyance for me. I like having it all done and tweaking the mix and listening. Doing all the recording is hard work.

In pro tools, its called elastic audio. I know logic has a similar function, just don't know the name off the top of my head. you can speed up or slow down your track, without changing pitch. If you slow it down too much however, you can notice unwanted effects.
