I am trying to figure out how to hook all of my stuff up to make a digital recording without frying my computer.. Here's a list of the equipment and the type of computer I have. Is this possible to do and if not what else do I need to make this work.....?? I have a Peavey Unity series mixer 1002-8RQ, A Peavey Deltafex digital stereo effects processor, A Crown XLS-402 amp, a RSQ Triple tray CD player and 2 Peavey SP5G Speakers. I am using a Sony UCV059XEUM Computer... I also have a Wireless Beta 58 and a regular sm 58 by Shure. Would they be okay to record with?

Please Help!!

Plug the 58 into a channel on the mixer. Use the direct out from the channel (best option) or a line out from the board and go direct to your soundcard. More than likely you need a Y-cable ( 2 -- 1/4" TS plugs > 1/8" TRS (( stereo)).

Use your FX as an AUX Send/Return to/from the board.

I don't know if those Peavey speakers are powered or not.

If they're powered, you can use tapeouts for the speaker feed.

If not powered, you can use tapeouts to the Crown for the speaker feed.

If the mixer itself is powered ( has an internal amp for running PA speakers), be sure you don't send speaker outs to your soundcard or to self-powered speakers.

Assuming your PC has a soundcard I think the only thing you're missing is audio software. And unless you don't have any PC speakers connected to the soundcard, you can probably put the Crown amp aside.

Your signal chain would go something like:
Mic -> mixer -> effects unit via aux or inserts (not sure here) -> soundcard (in) -> soundcard (out) -> mixer (tape-in or one of the stereo input channels)
