Optimus Prime
There are 2 channels on my amp, and there are two imputs for each channel.

This little printout I found says to input the cable from the guitar to the LOW imput of the normal channel, then have a cord from the high imput to the effects pedal "in".

Then from the effects pedal "out", have a cord going to the low imput of the other channel.

What's this crazyness?

sounds like something was lost in translation... i used to laugh at yamamha's schemo's and part's lists... you'ld get things like..."floppy dick controller"

That's the way an effects loop works on some older amps. Try hooking it up that way and see what happens.

What kind of old amp is it?

BTW, it's input. (as in put in) Not imput.

Sounds to me like they're trying to describe the effects loop. Does it have an effects loop?

If it's set up like the Marshalls from the 70's, you could plug into one channel and run a patch cable out of the other input of channel one into the input of channel two. That would get the guitar playing through both channels. I suppose, if you wanted to put an effect in that chain and be able to control the wet/dry mix with the volume for channel 2 you could.

These amps have two separate inputs for the two channels, they are both active at the same time.

It's a marshall 18 watt clone, but one of the IN-PUTS has been changed to a second volume knob. Will this matter?

It depends on how they did the mod. Plug into the channel that has the new volume control and see if the second channel is still hooked up to the jack.

There are (at least) two mods like that.
1. The volume control is placed between the preamp and power amp circuits.
2. Channel 1 output is routed to channel 2 input and the extra volume control is placed on the channel 2 output.

If you have mod #1, your effects plan will still work. If you have mod #2, it won't.

Thanx for telling me about the Imputs. :D
