You know bd, I am almost ashamed to admit I own a Behringer mixer, they get such negative reviews and comments on these forums. However, when you actually get comments from regular joe's like ourselves, you find that they are actually incredible bang for the buck. I guess if you aspire to recording on a Neve desk then a Behringer is just a joke. For me, the mixer was an excellent buy. As far as the noise issue is concerned, I have experienced a lot of noise when attempting to record acoustic guitar, and yes, I had the gain cranked. However, when I did the same thing on the Audio Buddy pre amp it was silent. But what the hell, for eighty bucks what can I expect.
Gospel, I have the same issue myself. I am recording a blues album, all covers of course. It's a project I have always wanted to to and it''s a good excuse to do a lot of guitar playing and singing whilst at the same time learning how to record. The one problem is posting. Like you, I cannot do the nowhereradio thing. I guess what some of us in this position could do is send mp3's via email for others to comment on. By the way, just buy the B1 and put yourself out of your misery. By this time next year you know you'll have a couple of MXL's along with it.
