Computers/Software

Thank you so much guys....now, I'm really trying to get clear on computers...some say it's better to use a Mac, some say PC? What are your thoughts? Also, some say SONAR, some say CUBASE? What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Richard i didn't mean you forgot, i meant from MY list. You mentioned everything on my list but you left out SD condensors. But you weren't doing my list, i was just pointing out that i need those as well.

Yea he was just asking for main LD's for vocals, i was just stating that i wanted some SD's too.

Sorry for the confusion.

Cubase SX, Logic audio (mac only unfortunatly), and protools (i think protools is geared towards mac, no?).

Maybe Cubase SX? Worth a look at least. I'm sure there are many other great programs.

While the other advice is fine. I have a more fundamental
piece of advice:

Don't do it. Run away now. It is a drug.
It will take all your money. You won't be able
to stop.

First you will buy a decent PC and some Shure SM57s,
and use Windows Recorder. Soon you'll want Sonar
or Cubase. Then you'll want a mixer, and more channels.
Better monitors. Acoustic treatment. Headphones.
better mics, better preamps. Outboard
effects.

Soon you will think that spending only $1000 per microphone
is being frugal. That a $4000 Manley SLAM is
cost effective.

It is cheaper to buy a commercial studio that to build one,
and that isn't including the cost of rehab.

Stop now before it is too late.

Water cooled, dual processor DAWs, Sonar for this,
ProTools for that, CoolEdit for one thing, CDArchitect
to burn, plug-ins for 5.1...

I know Fishtop is joking, but...
...there is truth to it....that's what makes it funny. However, be warned...wives don't see the punch line.
