KingV1474, thanks for this information! It's just what I need. I knew there were lots of Titles for Dummies, but, I didn't know about this recording one!

Another series of books

I recently picked up Bill Gibsons series on pro recording. It's written for the beginner/intermediate level which suited my needs perfectly. One of those things that just might get me out of the Newbie section. Anyways, the books are pretty expensive but it's great for a desktop reference. Here's the info.

The Audio Pro Home Recording Course by Bill Gibson. It's a 3 volume set and each one will probably cost around $40. In terms of importance, it pretty much goes as one being the most helpful, and two the next and so on. This is just my opinion though. If you work with MIDI, then you probably want to focus on Vol. 3.

Another good book for beginners is "Musician's Guide to Home Recording" by Tom Greenwold.. However, this book has one glaring flaw: it totally ignores the importance of studio monitors. Keeping this in mind, the book is still very valuable.

I just got the "Dummies" book and have read through most of it. I am pretty new to all of this, and let me say that it was very helpful at filling in some of the gaps in my knowledge of home recording. The majority of it is geared towards digital recording, but it covers the basic principles of multitrack recording in general. I feel also it will be a good reference book as I gain experience. You can get it for about $15 at Amazon.com.....
