Naw man, do not try to make a vocal booth out of a closet. Wherever you heard that from, it is just not a good investment. In fact, IMO, absolutely worthless.

Best to go with treating the largest room you have available. Even if just controlling the reflections around the mic, it is way better than butting yourself in a tiny box/closet.

In all of my years recording and on this site, I have never heard a good outcome or advice from building a closet vocal booth. Unless your closet is huge, has high ceilings and $1000+ in absorption materials, I would highly suggest against it.

I was reading about this just now! Yeah I just realized it doesn't make sense if I hate how it sounds inside the closet to begin with...
I'm thinking about with room to choose now. I could use my bedroom that is a big cube with a tall triangle shaped celing or a smaller room that has more irregular walls and a flat ceiling a both are thick concrete walls. What about bathrooms? There's crazy reverb in them but I must prefer singing in there for a reason.

Goodness, the bathroom is the worst of all. That nice reverb you hear sounds good because you can hear yourself, but what the mic hears is completely different. Go for the room with the tall ceiling.
