hifi speakers to computer

hi there, i was just wondering what i would need to hook up some hi-fi speakers to a computer, so that i can use them as monitors and to listen to music. is there a way they can also be used normally, simultaneously?

You just need to connect the line out of your sound card to an available line in of your HIFI. If the HIFI has an aux in that should work, otherwise you could use the tape or CD hookups. Your computer will just be another piece of audio equpiment on the hifi, so when you want to listen to it you would select whichever function you have it connected to (e.g tape, CD ...)
