Hi what cables would i need to connect Dynaudio Acoustics BM6A's to a Mackie 16-8. I understand the BM6A needs a blanced xlr female connection. So would a "Female XLR to Balanced TRS Jack" work ? would it make any difference if the jack were stereo or mono? i'm a lost cause when it comes to cables, forgive me.

thanks for any advice given.

cables are never considered stereo or mono. It's good to get that out of your head to help you understand how signal travels down a cable.
Analog audio cables generally fall into the category of being one or two conductor cables.
The signal itself (what comes out of your gear) is what is to be considered stereo, mono, balanced or unbalanced. Your job is just to match the correct cables with the correct signal/gear.

In other words, if the speakers say they take a "blanced xlr female connection"...then that tells you that you need an XLR cable (which has two conductors) and will carry and be compatible with a balanced signal that is to be sent down it.

anyway, I'm probably confusing you.
And as a side note...I think the speakers already have a balanced XLR female connection...YOU need to get a balanced xlr MALE connector.

And with XLRs, just remember that the pins point in the direction of the signal flow.
