WOW :eek: It's good to see someone else's interpretation of your room thanks!! :cool:

I wasn't using MDF because it's really expensive & if I used plasterboard the panels (especially at the corners) would be weak. The booth has to be modular because in all probablility it will be expanded or moved. So it has to be built using 1mx1m panels.

Oh, by the way I've already bought the fabric but thanks anyway!! And, sadly, that isn't a cupboard... it's a kitchen :D

This is the kind of thing i'm aiming for (remember the basstraps etc are the priority at the moment, so this is in the future). I'm at least wanting to build a floating floor & this type of system enables me to build the floor & add to that whenever I want.

I'm coming round to the idea of using a wooden frame & double wall of plasterboard. Probably due to the fact of seeing that I can get 12.5mm x 2400mm x 1200mm boards for £5.54 each. If it's better acoustically & cost wise, perhaps I should try and devise a modular system that utilizes these materials.

The booth has to be big enough to house a standard miked drumkit & have a floating floor (as the whole thing is to cut noise down to a minimum for neighbours below me). I was thinking the best place would be the corner on the left of the cupboard entrance (going with your diagram). I have a good amount of space to play with so I'm really not bothered how big or ugly the booth is. As long as I can have a shower & make food as well as write music, I don't care how my flat looks. :D
 
Wait lads, just ignore my last posts. It's plain to see I'm going to have to read up on this. This is driving me nuts, I write all the lyrics & music, perform all instruments & sing, record & mix and now I'm thinking about building a diy isolation booth? :confused: I'm turning myself into something other than a musician - which is all kinds of bad all at the same time :eek: I'll build the basstraps & see how things go from there. Thanks anyway pandamonk, I found your post where you drew up plans for a booth aswell, it's obvious my plans were not going to work :rolleyes: I need to start writing!!

Haha, it has begun! Your mind is slowly but surely changing! You will leave ur music behind, well the fun stuff, and become obsessed with the techy side before you know it! I'm a lost cause man! Save yourself while you can! hahaha :D
