Hi Everyone .. I would like to introduce myself

When a person presents a song for appraisal it's like handing in your homework at school. Good hand writting counts. A great song will win out through a bad recording but a unremarkable song played out of tune over a cheesy drum machine will always stink on ice.
 
What is a NMA

At Mp3.com they have this program for artists to promote other artists ... It is called the New Music Army ...

NMA .. essentially what it is, I promote FT, and in return I make a percentage of his earnings for doing so .


I welcome, any and all critism of mine or FT's work ... but what I dont understand is why I got stuff like : tell me this is a misprint .. and stuff like that ..

Critism is a good thing ... trashing someone's music is another ....

I did not know that FT posted on this board ... therefore, I had no idea this would happen ...

had I known you guys had ill feelings towards FT, I would not have brought his music here for review and help ...

I am earnestly trying to get some feedback on processes .... and you are wrong that he does not listen ... I told him about this board .. and that I posted here ...

he came and looked at what you all have said .. and then told me about what had happened ...

when all the stuff that happened on this board happened .. FT was in the middle of a really viscious fight with some other artists on another board .. and they followed him to this board .. and that is what happened ...

I am not defending him .. he is his own person ... and he reaps what he sows ... period ...

but I am not him .. I am also my own person .. I have myown views and own opinions ...

I think I can be a good addition to this board ...

all I can say is I apologize that I hit such a deep wound ....

and hope that we can get past that and this and get on with the music .. thank you all for your comments and suggestions !

Looks like you fell into quite a snakepit here. I wasn't around to experience "the FT incident", but have seen enough references to know it must have been a real scene.

Good Luck promoting him (elsewhere, I presume.)

I listened to your stuff, and although I'm not a country music fan, I thought your songs sounded good. I liked your voice, vocal talent is vocal talent, regardless of genre.

Thank you queue, I dont aspire to be a singer .. lol.. neither does my hubby, We are songwriters .. we hope to find an Artist who is looking for good material to cover and go from there ..

as For FT ... well you guys would be suprised .. since his Mom passed away a couple weeks ago .. he has dramatically changed ... He is truly a great person .... sometimes, I think , he gets misunderstood ...

Just to put a different perspective on things....I thought I knew what lack of talent was, then I came across The Worst of the Worst..
If you can go to this page and listen to "Don't Worry Dear, Bleeding Hills Are Near" all the way through you are a better man than I am. ("Bleeding Ears are Near" is more like it.) Or go to
this page and listen to "On The Stereo" by a guy named Toothpick. Apparently Toothpick can only strum his guitar when singing. Earns a Torture Factor of 9 out of 10.
No, FT does not lack talent.

Why don't you delete this entire post ( I believe you can if you started it)?

I listened to YOUR music and thought it was pretty cool. I am not a country fan, but it was catchy.

I loved Track Rat's comparision to school. In high school, there are teacher's pets/over-achievers and under-achievers. If they submit essays, they will be judged in different ways. I think you get the point.

If one of the Pro's here ( Bruce, Ed, Sjoko et al) submits work, we all expect something pretty good ( and those guys are). If one of the novices ( DavidK,etc) submits work, it is probably judged on a different level, as the big boys have the tools and the knowledge that the small guys don't.

I was in another forum for violinists ( I am a pro violinist), and this one idiot was shooting his mouth of about how he was the greatest violinist of all time. It was absolute insanity, the group hated him. One day, he posted some MP3s, and oh my, he was terrible, absolutely dreadful, but he actually had a following due to his posts, and some people still believed in him, I guess because they had no ears and were suckered by his online presence.

My Uncle died on Monday, it is sad, but it doesnt change my chops on the violin or keys.

If you want people to respect you, you might drop FT from your resume and just try to sell your own stuff. It is like saying " My friend, Gary Condit, has...

Remember, MP3.com is "pay for play", the more plays/downloads that either of them gets translates to possible $ for FT and Lana...

I think David's intention was, that if you deleted the thread, you'd essentially remove the connection between you and FT (here). I'm fairly certain, although you appear to be distancing yourself from him a bit in this thread, you have no intentions of dropping him as your NMA.

So there.... the thread lives on, and thanks to Queue it's at the top of the forum (again).

As you might have noticed, the FT subject is probably not a good idea.
Why dont you drop that and move along? Lots of smart folks around here, I would be glad to listen to your tunes.

Lana I thought the same thing about this site.

I discovered this site long before I ever joined its membership role. I thought basically the same things as you when I discovered it, and my feelings have not really changed. I didn't introduce myself as you have or bring mine or anyone elses music with me to be critqued as you did. I did come looking for a supportive artists community. So I have spent most of my time going through and reading the different forums.

I don't really even know if there are any rules or etiquite that I should have followed. I don't why some people are called "senior" and others like myself are called "newbie." Hell
there are really only two things that I admit to knowing, and one of those I get confused about anyway.

I think it is just a fact of live that you are going to have to deal with people that at the very least are a vexation of the spirit. I am a firm believer in some of the old sayings. Like, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you," because it dosen't really take some one with great intelligence to whip out some cutting critique. In most case like that I have found that this type of individual is usually "educated beyond thier intelligence," to quote and old friend of mine.

I have said this before and if I stick around here long you will here it again and again. It takes courage to create and no matter how humble the circumstance, it is indeed a gift, and no one has the right to destroy or diminish that gift, but many people do have the power too. I realize that there is an extremely broad range of creativity that could get very hard to defend by having said that, but to the extent of what this forum covers I feel comfortable with my convictions.

I have a limited amount of time but I will check out your work and let you know what I think. But when it comes to recording tech. many of the people that have already responded probably would be better than me and one last thing sometimes being honest is a two edge sword and there just aint no way to be nice.

Well, this was interesting. FT's just not a good subject around here (in my opinion) because I don't think he wants advice or comments regarding the technical aspects of his music/recordings, and he kind of ripped the board up with jackassism when he was hanging around. Sorry to hear about his mom dying.

FT lives for that bullshit confrontation... He's probably a decent dude in person, but behind the message, he's really obnoxious.

I checked out Lana's stuff before I finished reading her post and I thought it was good stuff (that "hell" song reminded me of Gordon Lightfoot stuff from the 70's)... Unfortunately as I read on, come to find out, she was "promoting" FT's stuff...

I've always said this board is the safe haven away from all the promoting bullshit... this is the place to go when you want to IMPROVE your music and recording skills... to get good constructive critisicm and advice, or to give some... The first time I saw FT post in here it was something like "I AM THE ONE TO KICK YOUR ASSES, I'M THE NEW GOD OF MUSIC, BLAH BLAH". And yah, I flamed him back then...

I was like, damn, not here, this isn't the place for this shit.

Anyway, we should drop this thread... I don't think the person who started this thread is coming back for the replies.

(all this is purely opinion from my fat head).

Anyway, sorry to hear about his mom dying.
 
You all know, i don't know anyone around here but i know i went and listened to this Father Time and i liked his music as well as lyrics. I think he sings it well, i also think that you all should quit the bul crap dogging people who like what they do and if they do it well, you all who don't like it can shove it in my opion. I also think, you shouldn't dawg on the other people who do like him and choose to promote him. So, should i delete what i'm saying because i like him too? Well, i'm not afraid to say what i like and i don't give a shit if you don't like what me or others like, your opion ain't shit to me if it's just gonna dawg the people who do care about what they like.
