One day, Pedullist and I will collaborate on a piece I've composed that's little more than a melodic minor scale.

I'm still waiting... ;)

I updated the file I uploaded last night because I found a small timing issue in the 4:50 lead part. Its posted both on nowhere and the ftp site new file is named bpomleadguitarfills3wfaroni.mp3 and its in the mp3 folder this time :) I'm updating the nowhere file as we speak. sorry for the inconvenience if youve already downloaded it. Its at the link

We're not after perfection mate. We just want to get something going. Something we can play to our friends and say "See that? That's me on that tune..."

Our friends and family might not like it, but who gives a rodent's rectum? It's ours and it's a beginning.

All hail to Dachay and Porter for keeping the faith. I'm really looking forward to playing the final results to my colleagues at work.

hey, I was playing with my new triton today and trying to learn what I can do with it.
Well Ive got a mental hernia for sure but I tried to do some horn parts and I got a pretty good sound already. unfortunately I dont have time to go pickin out the parts this week SO

I uploaded a real small sample to the ftp site :) Its a deaf guys poor interpretation of the 1st horn fill in the ARTISTS song.

However: It does not fit in our song or any for that matter but I was checking for the keyboards capability in the horn sound area NOT trying to create a part to use.

sounds good to my ears... I added some fx /verb/chorus/etc but it sounds like it might , in a mix, pass for a sax/horn duet :) probably a bit too heavy on the verb but pretty cool anyway

Since I play the keyboard MUCH worse than I play the guitar if someone wants to make some short midi fills for the horns I'll try and put the triton Horn sound on them If you like it. then we can paste them where they will go.

Any takers?
Jaymz, If your already doing that just disregard this ;)
Hey this korg thing is a blast!!
Probably the Best money that I dont have that Ive spent in a while!!

Bill, I downloaded this file today. I can't actually play it at this time, since I'm still at work, but it doesn't look like you left the "click intro" in the file.

Since I haven't actually heard what you played, I guess it's possible that it will be easy to align without that. But I thought we were gonna keep that 4-beat intro in all the files just to make sure of the alignment?

I guess I missed that part, but it lines up precisely with the start of the scratch track . that is, if nothing has changed in the conversion to mp3. If its off, even a bit it will be very evident. I had to move it a bit due to recording latency and let me tell you 10 or 15 milliseconds doesnt sound like much but it really effects the way it sits in the mix. ( I just cant stand latency) screws my playing up too every time!! Ill keep that in mind for future uploads as this probably won't be a keeper anyway.

Hopefully that will work. But for the future (for you and everyone else) it is probably easier and safer to rely on the click track.

BTW, it also looks like you included a fade out at the end. It's probably better to let the person doing the mixing add the fades. This way the fades for all tracks will be consistent.

For anyone interested, I uploaded an .mp3 of the electric piano track to the FTP site. It's called BPOM_EP.

BTW moskus, the transfer rate was 1.4 kbps??

dachay2tnr,

I'm getting the files at 7-9KB/s (mind you I'm downloading about 100MB from akai at the same time :D ).. mind you, that is coming down between 6-15KB/s

Porter

Yeah, I got about a 10 kbps on my download the other day, but only 1.4 on my upload this morning. And this is at work, on something like a T3.

BTW, check your PM's Porter.

You need to remember that this FTP-server is up on my friends private ADSL line... ;) Sometimes I'm sure he want to use the bandwith himself.

If you download/upload at "nighttime" (from 2300 to 0700, timezone 0100) the speed is pretty good.:)

moskus,

I haven't seen your submission for the Lead Guitar in BPOM yet?

You got your axe tuned, haven't you?

Porter

dachay,

how's you computer/sound card going? Is it up and working or still down?

It's currently in California undergoing repair (I hope). It arrived there last Thursday, but other than that I haven't heard a word regarding its status.

However, we still have been rehersing the BGV's for BPOM. So we should be good to go once we get it back. (Unlike some of our guitar playing friends :) )
