Well, I booted (or should I say tried to boot) my PC this morning. PCI driver was corrupted, so it won't load Windows until I 'repair'.... or I might just bite the bullet and rebuild (base install on Windows will take 5 minutes thanks to Norton Ghost)....

so.... ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!

Well, it was the pci.sys driver that was in the message, and after trying to repair it using the boot CD, the boot CD wouldn't boot. I had a version of Knoppix sitting at home and even that wouldn't boot. I tried a different Video Card and booting off a different drive... THEN I searched the web...

Faulty RAM! at least it's relatively cheap these days.. compared to early PC days.. for a 512MB dimm now you would have only got 1MB back then!

I remember buying 1 MB ram for 1000 NOK. That's about $162...

You must have needed an extra post to win that free trip to Hawaii. Nothing like the hey, moskus thread for padding your post counts. :)

How goes it, Señor John.

Getting older by the minute, but still pumping out the occasional recording to make our moms proud.

"Dats'a my boy!!!" :D

Hey John,

How's the songwriting going? Any more developments on that front yet?

Daniel

Thats what we were waiting for an e-mail that said Hey Moskus thread :) didn't you know that john?

Hi Daniel!

Songwriting is going slow right now. I've had some work and home crises that have taken me away from it. Some things that need to be straightned out before I can move on much further. I'm not done writing by any stretch. I just don't know if I will be able to continue on the same pace (however meager it was) as I was before. How about you?

Hey Bill!

I aim's ta please!!! :D

How are you doing?

Oh a P.S. on the songwriting front.

Before life blew up I was able to get another song demoed. It's out on my site.

http://www.johnkscott.com/songs

It's called Wallpaper. I like the song (although I'm not sure how cuttable it is). Dusty Drake sang it. He, at one point had a major label deal (maybe he still does but I haven't heard anything from him for a while). But man does he have a set of pipes. Check it out if you have a spare minute.

:)

Jagular, ya sur can rite em. :)

You have a real talent for capturing the essence of country music in your lyrics. Several of your songs have touched my heart in a way that I know the non country folks can't fully appreciate. Good country music comes from the heart and should speak to the heart. One of my favorite artists is Steve Wariner because he sings about those sometimes hard to see perspectives of life. I'm sure whatever personal hardships come your way, one small bright side is that you will be a better songwriter through the experience. Not everyone has that talent so ALWAYS look at this bright side, it can make a little difference.
Try out some Steve Wariner recordings and the above will be easier to understand.
DOMINO THEORY (20/-) MCA 42335 1990
I Can See Arkansas, Precious Thing (8/-), Where Fools Are Kings, L-o-v-e Love, She's In Love, Domino Theory (7/-), There For Awhile (17/-), I Wanna Go Back, While I'm Holding You Tonight, When Times Were Hard

Keep up the great work.

Peace
Bill

Hey John,

I hope everything is being sorted out on the work and home fronts. I've actually go some developments happening on that front at the moment which I'm going to be putting a post up on the other place about ;-)

Songwriting for myself has been very slow. At the moment I've got a number of ideas floating around in my head, it's just a case of getting them on paper so other fresh ideas can appear.

The goals which I set at the begining of the year was 6 new songs, co-writing and plaing open mics.. well I'm going to try damm hard to get those does before the end of the year. The only exception might be the co-write, but I've got to send a e-mail to someone here in Sydney about that tonight.

When work and home life returns to some kind of normality for you let me know and one day we can sit down together (on opposite sides of the globe) and write that international hit!

Are you on MSN much now?

Daniel

PS, when I was using Firefox to browse to your website it wouldn't come up for some reason.. I actually found another copy of your song here ;-) http://www.songnw.com/showcase/
