Helping out a friend re a strat valuation

A friend of mine has asked me if i knew what value his 80,s Jap strat would have
I was hoping some of you fine folk would know

I was just looking at a FOR SALE..FotoFlameTop, MIJ..$475 asking price. with Hardshell case and misc. Mint condition supposedly. and the MIJ / CIJ website.

MIJ is Basswood bodies for the most part.
The biggest negative,IMO is the MIJ tremelo system with all the extra tuning knobs and that metal lock-down piece at the nut.....just one opinion.personal taste. The MIJ site goes over the tremelo's.

I saw a HM Strat-MIJ and it was around $300-400. 17" radius or something!! damn flat neck.

Seems I bought one for $180 no case, years ago...like Mint no case. I sold it for like $150 or $200, it was an E- s/n too. My friends still got it. Strange Pink/red paint with Active EMG's I never liked either. Batteries and all that crap.

Its suprising as my son has a japanese squire strat from early 80's and he had it valued at 850 or so by several folks he knew that were in the know
