Ok here goes nothing :D

I would really appreciate it to who ever anwers this question cause it's kind of hard to answer. Ok i'm trying to build a new computer to do music with and i need some SPECIFIC advice on what specific parts i should get and a link would be nice. (E.g what RAM, Processor, Motherboard, Soundcard) and any other parts that's would be good to do music with so please be SPECIFIC on which brand and model type and a link please if possible. thanks

Tough to be specific when we have no idea what type of soundcard and program you're using. If it's PTLE you'll need to go to Digidesign's website and check their compatibility sheet. I for example had a computer that I tried to run Sonar on and it wouldn't load, and yes it was an actual disk. So let us know what you're wanting to use and you may get more help as to what you need pc wise.

There really is no specific answer unless you're set on using certain software/hardware to do recording in...

For general recording, you'll just need a computer with a good amount of RAM (1GB+), a decent processor, probably from 1.5-2+ GHz, a decent sized hard drive (80 - 160GB), or maybe 2, one for storing software on, and one dedicated to recording tracks to.

As for a soundcard, M-Audio makes several good ones from what I've heard...24/96, Delta, etc.

As for a motherboard, just one that supports the above and allows you to upgrade if you need to...ASUS is a good motherboard manufacturer...

You weren't at all specific on what you'll be doing...how many simulataneous tracks you will be recording, what software you'll be using, etc.

If it makes you feel better, I'm using an old computer...1.2GHz AMD, 256MB RAM, 80GB hard drive, and a discontinued Shuttle motherboard and it does the job just fine, but then again I never record more than 2 tracks at once.

Another thing to consider, is sufficient cooling and quiet componenets. You want your computer to be as quiet as possible, and maybe even isolate it from your recording space (put it in a cloest or something). If you will be isolating it, you'll need a good cooling system.

You'll need to be more specific...
