Hey guys I just got a mackie 1202 vlz pro and I'm loving it! I was wondering if its possible to have 4 mics on the mixer and run those to the 4 inputs on my delta 66 and record each of those 4 mics on seperate tracks? I'm using 2 overheads, 1 kick, and 1 snare mic.

Thanks alot!

Certainly.

If the mixer has Direct Outs for each channel, just run a cable from the appropriate direct out connections into the Delta's input connections.

If the mixer doesn't have direct outs, you can still do this using Channel Inserts. Run a cable from the appropriate Channel Inserts to the Delta's inputs. However, I believe when you connect to the Channel Inserts you only want to put the jack in halfway (until you hear the first click). This way the insert will serve as a send.

You'll use the channel inserts on the 1202, as dachay2tnr described.

Slackmaster 2000

Just to add.

Wedge bits of folded cardboard inbetween the cable ends (adjacent channels) when using the 'first click' mode. Cig pack stock works fine, the vibration from drums in close proximity can be havoc.

I knew about the channel inserts thing but when I record in cool edit pro it only does one recording thing...

I think he is talking about the way CEP assigns the inputs to tracks from the delta.

Yep....Sorry its just sorta hard to explain what I want to do. I'm still really new to this stuff.

Ok in the multitrack view in CEP on track one click the button that says recording devices or something similar. It should list the inputs from your delta 66. If not you'll need to activate the inputs so click on properties and select all the inputs you want to use on the delta. Then press ok and you should be back at the recording devices window.

Now since you it's track one you probably want to select input 1 on you delta. If they are grouped than select left channel.

For track 2 do the same but select input 2 or right channel.

Continue this for the rest of the tracks.

Thanks alot Tukkis!

Ok I've got the multitracking set up right but when I play it back thru the computer its got a weird thing like its playing everything twice. Sort of like a reverb. I don't have any effects on and it sounds fine thru the mixer. Any idea what this is?

Thanks again...

It sounds like you have a feedback loop.

How are you routing the signal from your mixer and back again?

Tukkis

And how is the sound getting to speakers?
Where are your sperakers plugged into?

Tukkis

Oh sorry guess I shoulda specified that. I have headphones plugged into the mixer. They're plugged into the headphone jack...

And are any of the outs from your delta coming back into the mixer?

Tukkis

So say you want to overdub a track over another, how do you listen to whats already been recorded and what you are hearing or recording?

I listen thru my computer thru cool edit pro.

The only reason I had headphones plugged into the mixer was because I wanted to hear what was being recorded.

Hrmmm....weird. I tried it again today and it worked. All I did was jiggle some cords. Thanks alot for the help anyways.
