All,

New to the forum, hopefully I'm posting this in the right spot... if not, please let me know.

Before, I'd been using an Alesis 8USB MultiMix for my podcast, but now I've upgraded to a Mackie 820i Firewire mixer and I'm having some issues. Most notably, I'm only able to record sound from one left/right channel, and the sound I get is not in stereo. I also followed the instructions for balancing out the inputs; however, it seems to be coming into my computer at a very low volume with, at times, a hollow, distorted sound.

I'm trying to record on a new iMac 23" w/ Firewire 800 using Amadeus Pro.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

yeah i had that issue with my 1620i .. the one channel only but it was just the wrong permutation of buttons...

the low volume issue has been raised a lot .. but i wouldnt try to overdive at the preamp stage just to get your daw to show healthy waveforms..

there i think is a firewire post button that would help to boost the signal post preamp.

The "wrong permutation of buttons" is what I figured. Any idea what you might have clicked around to get this working?

god .. i dont know.. there was so many buttons that i didnt know what i was doing.. i think using control room rather than main out was a significant step.

i should say that my old mackie desk which was a 12 channel lost one side because my power provider sent me a spike that blew out the preamp on that side... hence my new purchase.
