Hi, I know this has been asked countless times, I just wanna make sure Im making the right choice. I currently have a comptuer that I record on, but it seems like every 6 months it starts to act crazy and just cut off and reboot by itself and eventually my harddrive dies, and I lose all my stuff, so I'm thinking of getting another computer strictly just for music, with no internet, etc. on it, and using my current one just for leisure. I mainly record vocals, and use tons of plugins, so I know Ill need a lot of memory for that, but I wondered if this computer would be a good one to go for to strictly do music on.
Lenovo 3000 J115 Desktop - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2GHz - 512MB DDR2 SDRAM - 160GB - Combo Drive (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) - Gigabit Ethernet - Windows XP Professional - Tower - 738722U
Its priced at aruond $540.00

Is this a good buy or can I find the things I need cheaper?

That looks pretty darn good, but you said you will be using lots of plugins. CPU would probably be your #1 priority (although everything else matters too). You might want to consider an Intel Core Duo processor.

If you plan on using VSTi/Virtual instruments with MIDI then you may also want to get at least 1GB RAM.

yea thas exactly what I use (vst/midi), play the rhodes as well and record it into the computer and put filters on it etc., so yea I know ill definitely need ram, but thanks for the intel suggestion
