Ok before I start I will list all the equipment I have and plan on using
PC
Dell Studio
Intell Core2 Quad 12MB 3.0Ghz 1333FSB
500GB Serial Serial ATA Harddrive 7200RPM
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit
Sounblaster X-Fi Soundcard
8GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Theres the Computer
Heres the Applications and Equipment
D.A.W.
Adobe Audition 3
Guitar Equipment
Fender Strat
Crate GT65 amp (No Lineout feature.. only extension)
SM-57 Mic (plan to buy in the future)
M-audio DMP3 (plan to buy in the future)
I am currently using a Logitech USB Powered Mic a.k.a. The Guitar Hero 4 Microphone... lol Doesnt sound that bad lol
Ok now what I need to know here is if this is an alright combination.. The thing Im looking for here is just to capture the sound from my amp and not use an effects processor or pedal..
The only thing that I require is a LAG-FREE recording expierence
I dont care too much about sound quality right now.. So if any other gear could be listed for better lag purposes then do it.. keep in mind though Im not made of money.. Im a 20 year old kid who works at walmart here lol..
just paid 1500bucks on the computer so im broke atm
Would the setup I have now be pretty decent for recording audio with lag free.. or should I invest into another DAW program or what??
Ive heard alot about firewire interfaces and whatnot but I dont know what all that is and how to go about it.. Ive recorded guitar back in the day and had no problems with lag but I was using a computer with XP and a Digitech RP300 which I know has a built in preamp I think..Ive heard alot of stuff about vista not being great for recording but I couldnt get this computer with XP..
I have installed ASIO4ALL to my soundcard and can set the buffer all the way down with no clicks or popping.. When I record a track with adobe audition say quarter notes at 120BPM its fine... when I playback that track and try to record another one ontop of it say 8th notes at 120BPM then they dont lineup right.. Is that a problem with the daw station?
The reason I ask is because I always Cool Edit Pro 2 to record with in the day which is now Adobe Audition..
Any help with this would be much appreciated.. heres a recording Ive done about 2years ago if interested with the My amp and a cheapass mic..

Thanks in Advance for your help.. I really want to get my recordings going again.. its basically the whole reason I spent $1500 for the computer..
I take techno tracks and put a real guitar ontop of them.. new style im going for.. so I really want to get started a.s.a.p.
