Hy everybody,
i''m planning to buy i mic pre for my neumann m147(wich i use only for vocals).
But i don't have any idea about mic pre's!!!
Should i buy a solid state mic pre or a tube one? Someone told me that i have tube mic already.. and i should buy a solid state mic pre, otherwise the sound gonna be too warm and crispy!
I have few mic pre's in mind(but if someone knows any good mic pre, i'm open to suggestions)

-Grace design model 101 or Lunatec V3
-Trident S20
-Focusrite track master or Focusrite Penta

Is it better to get a channel strip or a mic pre(Do I really need EQ and Comp while i'm recording?)
I'd rather spend less than 1000$ but,if there is big difference in term of quality, i can reach 1500$
Basically i need only one channel for recording the voice.
I hope someone can help me out. Thank you!!

I did female vocals a couple years ago with a m147 and a Focusrite Red7. I really liked that setup, we also used a sytek, ISA110, DBX and a few others including the pres on the MCI console we were using. The Red7 won out. I wish I had copies of that somewhere but theyre all gone.

any of those pre's will do just fine and you can even email them and ask what pre they feel works best for vox for that particular mic you have
