Hello,

I'm currently recording a band pro bono but I don't want to master the work myself b/c I don't have the quality tools or skills to do so.

I am looking for a mastering engineer to help me out with this. Preferably a professional that would be willing to waive the charges. The project is a four song demo of about 20 minutes in length. We rushed through recording b/c of time constraints so some of the material is a bit sloppy but it's recorded fairly descently... just some tempo "anomalies" here and there. We're finishing up with the final overdubs within a week, and after another week it should all be mixed and ready to master.

Although I request that someone do this for free, if the work is quality I'd love to refer other work to the person for paying jobs in the future as I currently don't have any contacts for mastering houses.

Thanks for looking. You can PM me or reply here. Please give me the URL to your website or some examples of the work you've done.

Ya, I'm hopin' he might come check out this thread... I don't want to contact him though and make him feel obligated.

another suggestion- just south of you in milwaukee is trevor sadler @ mastermind. top notch and a swell dude to work with.

i think he will master a track for nothing to show you what he can do...4 tracks wouldn't cost you too much (he did a whole record i did for 500.) i know how it is with $ - i've been wanting to send stuff up there but no one forks it over...

anyway, not totally free but totally close and totally world class...as i'm sure massive mastering is.

thanks for the suggestion. I book marked his site for future reference. Ya, I personally won't pay a cent for the mastering b/c I'm already recording the band for free. They just wanted my recordings to pimp to the record label so that they'll foot the bill for a full length done at an expensive studio.

I just figured that if my work is going to be heard by big shots that it should be mastered professionally, but, I guess if they're not willing to spend any $$ on a good demo, then so be it. I'll just have to run it through my waves L1 and bring up the volume of it I guess... :)

Wish I could help... Pretty slammed at this point. So unfortunately, I have to let capitalism reign.

I actually know a place that would probably do it for nothing, but honestly - I wouldn't submit my worst enemy's mixes to this guy...

Not a problem... Looks like I found a citizen of the board who has a lapse in work right now that's willing to help. :)
