hi guyz..

I am really counting on some opinions now..

Just got both studio projects B1 mic, and firebox very recently, I can still return the firebox. The primary problem I am having is;

Plug the B1, to one of the front preamp inputs, (using cubase sx3, latest ASIO drives, XP SP2 and all) I dont get enough signal, until I crank up the input level all the way close to the end (+30 levels) what I don't understand is I should get a bit of a range at least, however I dont get anything, and all of a sudden I get signal on last clicks on the knob. (this has been the case for both frontal inputs on my firebox with this mic)

now, this is my first, very first time owning my own mic, so maybe this is a regular or standard problem with faulty mics, (same preamp inputs worked okey when inserted my guitar)

second thing, is in cubase, even though I mute one of the audio tracks, it still brings hiss, noise, and sort of inner signal blended into the other track that I am monitoring/recording (not muted)

I am going to try to do some more test these days.. but please ENLIGHTEN me in terms of these indications I have... I really wanna GET RID OF any possible faulty products after paying some nice bucks, (I am gonna return them no matter what to the dealer)

appreciate your time,

Arda

Not sure about Cubase, but about the B1... Every condenser needs phantom power; are you sure you´re sending phantom to the mic?

yeah man I am using it with phantom power, If I don't I dont get any signal from it at all anyways... :)

The Gain Knob is Probably Logorythmic like in Most preamps (as opposed to Linear) which basicly means that the Last 50% of Gain is in the Last 25% of the Knobs Rotation, ......

I don"t know if the Firebox has a Mixer controll panel in the driver setting but if it does then maybe you don"t have the levels set high enough....

I know my Delta 44 has a Mixer controll panel that will allow me to increase or decrease the sencitivity of the line inputs......

Good luck

minion thanks for the reply, yes there is a mixer for this soundcard on windows, but unfortunately all levels are all the way up... so there is no catch on that aspect.

There's a control panel application where you can digitally add another 12dB to the signal.

I think you should try another mic with it though. At this point you don't know for sure whether it is the mic or the Firebox, and you need to eliminate one as the culprit.
