Help please

Hello guys
I read on here a lot but this is my first post. Ok im a newbie and would like to ask if this is possible....i have a computer with the M-Audio audiophile 2496 soundcard . I have a small mixing desk Mackie 402 VLZ3 . Im now going to buy monitors and was looking at M-Audio Studiophile AV40 . These are active monitors i think. My question...can i connect these speakers and my mixing desk to my soundcard? Or do i need passive speakers and amplifier?

Yes, those are active (powered) and yes, you can connect them directly to the mixer. Active monitors are simply those with the power amplifier built-in.
