I use mostly a Squier Modified Vintage Fretless with a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass. I have absolutely no idea about recording and all that electronic jazz, and I wanted to buy a USB interface pureply to record arrange and miaster my compositions. Other instruments I'll use are a mic, guitars(Acoustic), Arabian Oud, and possibly a midi controller heyboard. Sound Quality and Zero Latency is what I'm looking for. My budget is about 300$. I need something compact to use with my laptop. So size really is kind of an issure.

I was planning on getting the Motu Microbook, it looks great and the features on it are pretty much what I'm looking for. I also wanted something that's both Apple and Windows compatible. I was getting apprehensive since the bundled software(Audiodesk) does not work with Windows. I was thinking of buying the Cakewalk Sonar XL edition with the Microbook. I basically need a good sequencer that'll let me record and edit in peace. Having a few virtual synths would be nice but not mandatory. Programmable drums I really need. Good drummers are tough to find.

I might be shifting to Apple soon, but I'd worry about that when it happens. The Presonus Firebox seems like the next viable option in my opinion.

I can shell about 300$ but wasn't planning on getting anything too complicated. M not really into synths n all, but programmable drums would be wonderful.

So ultimately it boils down to..
Presonus Audiobox (150$) | Motu Microbook + Sonar XL (250$ + 70$)

M not really concerned with saving cash in terms of recording gear, I've heard that the Microbook delivers amazing clarity. Thing is, I have no idea about the Audiobox. And the revious about it are VERY variable online. At a max there will be two instruments playing together at most , its mostly going to be solo. So the Microbook's 4 inputs are all that I'll ever need. Anyone used any of these? Are they any good, and worth the dough? Also, what about Sonar 7 XL, is it all I'll need to start from acratch end end up with a final recording that I can share as a finished product?

I need help on what software and audio interface to use for the requirements I described above. Please. I really need to buy some good gear and start recording soon. Thanks.
