So I'm currently building a condenser mic from scratch. Yes, even the capsule and all that. But, because I made my own capsule, I need a rather odd voltage so I can't just buy a phantom power source so I made my own custom one. I don't have any xlr audio interface so I have to use my 3.5mm. So my question is can I just use a simple adapter to convert xlr to 3.5mm or I have to build a fancy custom audio interface?

you can buy what you need for about $15. But it is easy to make a converter. The simplest one is just wire, a transformer is better.

Google for Jensen Transformers, then look at AN003 white paper. Or you can buy one already made from Sweetwater for about $20. It will have the right ends XLR to 1/8th TS.
