help me solve my masterlink problem

hello all,
i just got a masterlink today and there are some strange things going on.

i cant switch the input source to digital. it stays in analog. if i push it i will hear a little relay-type of clicking from inside the unit.
if i push it while the unit is playing off of the cd or hd it effects the units output by making a cracking noise. also some of the other buttons also produce that relay-type of clicking noise when pressed..like the stop button.
i have version 2.15.
powering the unit on and off is no use.
is there a way to re boot this thing so it might fix the problem? like a master reset or initialize or shout i just return it and try again?

Do you have a digital signal present at the input when switching to digital? Is the signal Professional format (IEC958), not consumer? I can tell you from experience that it will not switch to digital input without a digital signal present - and I can tell you from the manual that it expects pro format for that signal (I don't have any consumer format digital gear in my studio to verify). There is a reset function by holding down a couple of buttons at power up, but I'm danged if I can remember which ones; a call to tech support would get you the info. Have you searched the Alesis forum here using "Masterlink" as a search term?

!@#$%% masterlink will only switch to digital in like he said when their is a digital signal AND that digital signal IS CLOCK MASTER present on the input

it will also drop out of digital any time you get comfortable and or a sample rate switches or customers are around

I still love the stupid thing tho

do yourself a BIG favor and use the Alesis IsoBuilder instead of the masterlink when its time to make masterlink compatiable disks

use the masterlink to verify that it worked

yes it did come with a manual, but i couldnt find any info for my problem.

what is the alesis iso builder? never heard of it(sorry im new to masterlink i need help)

well i havent tried to put a digital signal into it so ill give that a shot.
what about this cracking noise? anyone else have that problem?

1. with the masterlink turned off, connect the digital source you want to record from.
2. turn the source gear on first, then turn the masterlink on
3. now switch the masterlink to digital.
4. if the masterlink is in record mode you will not be able to switch between analogue and digital input.

ok fellas i am not ashamed to admit that i get the "dickhead of the year" award for this one. it works perfect with a digital source hooked up!! thanks for putting my stupidity in check guys.
