i use a dell laptop' inrel cure i7' W8.1
recently when im play audio or recording in my laptop its crackling all the time. i used dpc checker and latency mon and i couldnt find an answer in ather forums, my problem is in wdf01000.sys and nvlddmkm.sys.
if you know how to help ill be so greatfull!!

Tell us what audio interface you are using and what the two .sys has any relevance.

Usually crackling is a sign of having the interface set to a very low buffer setting. You may have set it very low before and everything worked fine. Then you added a program, or you started running something else and now the low setting is causing issues.

I suggest setting your buffers higher when listening and only setting them lower when recording and monitoring. The lower buffer setting taxes your computer harder since it is processing audio near real time.

If you look for a difference in what programs are running (like WIFI) that wasn't running before.

Well, if you are listening to your mix, you should be plugged into the Steinberg. You could have a bad connector on your computer or your headphones. On the surface, sounds more like a headphone cable or computer connector problem. It doesn't sound like a computer/OS problem. Also, make sure the volume on the output (in the OS) isn't cranked all the way up.

Hello,

nvlddmkm.sys is a component of NVIDIA graphic cards, go to the NVIDIA website and download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card, your computer is having problems processing audio in real time.
It is not a cable or a faulty connection, it seems that you also need to optimise your computer.

It looks like your system shares memory with the display setup, that is a common problem with some laptops. How much RAM do you have?

- Deactivate any saving energy option. The system should be configured for continued operations. If this is not done, hard disks will throttle in speed or toggle off after a while and some processors will down clock and slow down. Because of this, our products could stop functioning correctly.

- Programs that are running in background can cause issues while working with our products or even already during installation. These programs are mostly configured to automatically start when Windows boots up, e.g. virus scanners, security software, firewalls, printer and media software. It is advisable to deactivate these programs and slim out your auto start.

Go to the start menu and in RUN type msconfig you will find them there.

If you have a UR22 you can contact the Steinberg support through your MySteinberg account.

Best regards,
GN

I had a ur22 and it crackled as well. I tried to fix it but couldn't. Swapped it for a Focusrite 6i6 and never had that issue. Same laptop same OS.
