Which ones do you use?I'm pretty sure I hit harder than most people, and I do rimshots all day long. They don't break if you're using the right one. They don't splinter or leave sawdust all over the place either.

2B's are too big for me. Not trying to get into a pissing match, but I can't tell you how many drummers tell me that they hit really hard when they don't. It happens almost on a weekly basis over here...
